Australian Money Games - GO FISH - Addition Notes & Coins - DIFFERENTIATED
Overview
Description
There can be a wide range of ability when it comes to money concepts. Some students recognise and can add coins upon entry to school; others need to start at the beginning. I have a box of real money when these kids present, but that's not feasible in a classroom. The next best thing is plastic replicas or pictures. This game will be perfect when pictures provide the recognition needed and practice makes recognition fluent.
Addition of coin values has been differentiated with three levels and notes are added when addition of coins has been mastered. As students play this game they will become fluent with money concepts, especially mental addition. There is no renaming of cents to dollars except for two fifty cent coins in Set 1. This is a skill set beyond the target of this game.
There are 42 cards in each game (21 matching pairs) with cumulative skill development as mastery progresses.
Set 1: Recognition of coins and addition of two coin denominations to $2.00
Set 2: Addition of three coin denominations to $5.00
Set 3: Addition of multiple coin denominations to $10.00
Set 4: Addition of notes and coins including $100
The sets can be mixed to suit your needs and there is a discreet labelling system you can use to reconstitute the sets if need be.
